Tanzanian singer Rayvanny recently left many with their mouths agape after claiming that several women have aborted his pregnancy. The singer, who is married to his baby mama Fahyma have and has one child, baby Jadanvanny, said that he doesn’t have any kid outside wedlock but he knows some women have killed his baby. Unaware The singer further added that all these women he suspects to have aborted didn’t tell him. “Hawajainiambia, lakini naamini kua mimba nyingi zimetoka, kwa sababu ujue, wanawake wengi washakua na mimba zetu wengi.” he said.  He went on: “Naamini hicho, kwa hiyo, hajawai kuniambia mwanamke kama anatoa mimba yangu. Hahahaaaa, jamani, vita vyote tulivyopigana?” It’s not the first controversial statement the artist has shared. When you attend a gig, you expect to be entertained and this largely depends on the performers and what they do on stage. Truth is, anyone can get on stage but very few people can own it. (I sound like a motivational speaker at this point). I have attended a couple of gigs over the last few years and watched some on YouTube and in my honest opinion some of the best live Kenyan performers are; The Kansoul, Jua Cali, Juliani, Nameless, Sauti Sol, Avril, Timmy Tdat, Willy Paul and Khaligraph Jones. Today, we’ll focus on the last three names because they are individuals who are current i.e. they don’t belong to any groups and they have been in the game for almost the same period of time and they are still relevant to date. We would like to find out who among the three you consider the best live performer and why. What makes each of them stand out and why? We want to know how they manage to pull large crowds to their events. Willy Paul Apart from having mad energy while performing, the Tam Tam hitmaker is known to pull stunts on stage. However, for a few years now it’s clear that Kenyan artists are no longer doing  patriotic songs. Why? I believe Kenyans are frustrated. Musicians like Juliani and Eric Wainaina have been on the fore front when it comes to this kind of music. But as the Wamlambez regime took over the Kenyan airwaves,the patriotic songs were totally ignored. Why? Bad Politics In my opinion I believe it is because of the bad political situation that we are facing as a nation. But again, this should not be factor that cripples our sense of patriotism as a nation. Far, from just being a source of entertainment music can be used to bring us together with little consideration to ethnicity. A situation that is slowly eating us up as a nation. Anyway my point is when Sauti Sold said “Tuko pabaya Leo kuliko jana” in their song of Tujiangalie, they were right. I mean look at the economic state that Kenya has plunged itself in. If only Kenyan musicians took the initiative to  do more music on patriotism like before I believe our state of helplessness would be lesser. This would sooth the negative energy that many carry around. Recently celebrated dancehall Gospel artists Gurdian Angel did a patriotic song  in partnership with Permanent Presidential Music Commission that clearly resonates with every Kenyan. However to date the views to the song stand at 63k views, this is sad. What do we want? Are our Kenyan artists now afraid to articulate the state of the nation? Our Hope If only the likes of Juliani  and Eric Wainaina would come back to music scene then some Kenyans will get that little glimmer...

But according to Tanzanian singer Vanessa Mdee, Beyonce’s team actually was in talks with a few East African names for the album but the talks didn’t materialize to anything. The singer shared in an interview with Lil Ommy TV saying that Beyonce’s teamed reached to her and she was even shortlisted for the album but doesn’t know what happened. “I was shortlisted. I remember that there was a conversation. I never heard of it again and do not know what happened. I am not mad that Beyoncé worked on the album, because when you think about it, for those of us who travel, the only music they know about is Afro-Beat from West Africa.” she said.  Simba She went on to add that since the movie was based in Kenya, she really expected an artist from East Africa to appear. “We, in EA, are not in that category, we do Afro Pop. Generally speaking, we are all in the umbrella of ‘African Music,’ unfortunately, they do not differentiate the many genres. Think about it, the essence of Simba-  a lion- is a huge East African attraction and it beats me why Beyoncé did not feature us,” she said.

A video of a taxi driver battling with a police office in a cab made headlines on Thursday after emerging on social media. The video however did not reveal as to why the taxi driver opted to fight with a law enforcement officer and now word has it that he has been arrested. The driver identified as 41-year-old David Kariuki Kamurwa was arrested at Gikambura in Kikuyu area on Thursday, 25th July by Karen Police officers who had issued his arrest warrant.
