Local football teams KK Combined FC (Men’s) and Gusii Starlets (ladies) emerged overall winners at the Betika na Community football tournament held in Kisii county on 14th and 15th December. The two teams, who won 200,000/- and 100,000/- cash prizes respectively, battled it out against 18 other teams for the much-coveted title. Apart from the cash prizes, the winning team was awarded a Betika shop and a 5000-litre water tank to support their local community project. All participating teams were provided with football kits and balls to further their training. The tournament which was graced by His Excellency James Ongwae, Kisii County Governor, had over 7,000 fans in attendance. It was a culmination of week-long activities, held by the betting firm in Kisii which saw them hand out occupational gear and protective clothing e.g. conductor and reflector jackets and mechanic overalls to the Kisii residents. Speaking during the tournament, Betika’s Commercial Head, Mr John Mbatiah said, “We are excited to witness the amazing levels of football talent in Kisii. We remain committed to investing in our community through the promotion of grassroot football in our country and are looking forward to similar tournaments in the remaining counties throughout 2020”. The program aims to invest in the youth by nurturing talent through Sports, Arts and Culture events. Under the Sports program, the initiative aims to support the youth in the community through provision of uniforms, financial support, kits, balls, nets and other sports equipment.

Kenyan musician Bill Sellanga, popularly known as Blinky Bill and formerly of Just A Band, has released a new song and it’s getting a lot of love. Also read: Blinky Bill, one of Kenya’s few music geniuses The song dubbed Atenshan, which is a corruption of the word attention, is off his album Everyone’s Just Winging It And Other Fly Tales which was released in 2018 and that means that this jam isn’t that new, only the video is. I really love this song. Every time I listen to it it’s like I am hearing it for the very first time and that is how you know it’s a big tune. Atenshan is very groovy which simply means that you will most likely get up to bust a move from the moment you hit the play button. It goes without saying that the producer – a chap known as Leon Omondi – did a commendable job. For me, one of the things that makes this song more than extraordinary is the perfect synchronization of the beat and the instruments. I know you will agree with me after listening to it. Of course, we have to laud Blinky Bill for his melodious voice. There’s a way that he sings that keeps you hooked even if you are a guy. It is truly glorious. The video is also great. South African rapper and songwriter Senzo Mfundo Vilakazi, better known as Kwesta, has dropped a new track with Rick Ross and it’s getting a lot of love. The song titled I Came I Saw, which was released exactly a month after Kwesta’s collabo with Rich Homie Quan Run It Up came out, has been getting a lot of airplay. To the best of my knowledge, this track talks about Kwesta’s upbringing in Katlehong township in South Africa. In as much as it was not a slum, life wasn’t easy, according to the Ngud hitmaker. The underlying message, at least according to me, is that you can still make it big despite where you come from that’s why he says, “I came I saw I conquered all.” I really love this jam. Other than Kwesta’s hoarse voice – which I’ve since gotten accustomed to, I couldn’t get enough of the part where he dropped a verse in English. His flow is really dope and I’m not exaggerating. As expected, Rick Ross also did a good job. His deep baritone gave the jam an edgy feel or so to speak. I’m sure many people won’t forget the part where he says, “I came I saw Kwesta and his grandma in Katlehong.” The video which was filmed in Kwesta’s hood as anyone can predict, was also on point. It has been years since Marya and Mustafa Colonel called off their relationship. However, back then they made their fans believe that religion was the main reason they broke up only for Mustafa to finally open up about unknown things about what led to the break up. Speaking during a recent interview with Mzazi Willy M Tuva on Mambo Mseto, Colonel for the very first time revealed that Marya had been cheating on him with one popular radio presenter from Tanzania, Reuben Ndege. Mustafa spills the beans According to Mustafa, Marya had just travelled back to Kenya from Tanzania where she claims to have had a show. However due to curiosity he decided to go through her phone where he bumped into s conversation between Marya and the presenter – only to realize that he was getting played. After this things started getting tough in their relationship and lastly Marya opted out. Not quite sure how true the story is but chances are that Mustafa could be telling the truth.
